I watched a video of the Asian Elephants in Burma - achhhh. There was a part where the trainers were trying to break one of the young elephants; it was awful :'( . The poor thing was all tied up and being prodded and poked :'( - particularly traumatic as it hadn't been in contact with humans before as it was captured in the wild. They intend to train captive elephants for their logging industry - elephants are to drag felled logs out of the forests. Burma apparently has a strong timber industry. One commented,
"As long as there is a timber industry, there will be elephants" their survival is apparently owed to it. I just wish I hadn't seen that elephant be harrassed so :'(.
I can't be too adamant or judgemental as I clearly benefit from animals myself! -food, clothes and what not. haha, so, unless I became a reclusive vegan which I doubt (too hard), I can't say much ;).
So, I must read
